Manchester Child Safe Zone

The Child Safe scheme was successfully implemented at Manchester Arndale in July 2005, with support from Cityco and the Greater Manchester Police and has proved a simple, effective way of reuniting a lost child with their parent.

At the start of any shopping trip parents can collect a free Child Safe wristband for their child from the Manchester Arndale information desk. Each wristband has space for parents to add their mobile phone number. In the event of separation, the parent is encouraged to stay close to where they last saw their child and then call the Child Safe Zone helpline number - displayed on bright orange window stickers in shops in the Child Safe Zone - putting them directly in touch with the Manchester Arndale Security team. Anyone finding a lost child can also call the parent's mobile number or the Child Safe number for security to assist.

Launched in November 2008, as part of the Child Safe Zones programme, Cityco is also pleased to support the nationwide road safety ‘Stay Safe Family Promise' campaign.

The Stay Safe Family Promise campaign by Brake, the road safety charity, encourages families to take care when driving, walking to the shops and wherever else they travel. The Stay Family Promise sheet is available here. Parents are encouraged to read through the safety information on sheet, with their children and to commit to being safer on the roads.
