city centre strategic plan 2009 – 2012

CityCo and Manchester City Council has published a 2009 – 2012 strategic plan for city centre Manchester.

The plan recognises that Manchester is competing internationally and external views of the city’s quality of life as a whole, are strongly determined by perceptions of the city centre. Opinions will be formed by aspects such as a distinctive cityscape, exceptional public realm, business diversity, the cultural offer, a range of global brands and accessibility.

In addressing these factors, the strategic plan:

  • Sets out a vision for how we want the city centre to be
  • Identifies what needs to be done to make the vision a reality
  • Highlights specific needs regarding the development of particular areas of the city.
