Attracting talented staff by making the city a better place for business and leisure Cityco help to attract skilled employees to Manchester by making the city a better place in which to work, live and invest. The 2007 UK Cities Monitor report, looking at criteria such as quality of life and ease of recruiting good quality staff, ranked Manchester second only to London as the best overall place in which to locate a business.

Creating desirable environments Cityco help to attract tenants to the city by working with developers and the local authorities to create areas that ‘sell themselves’. This approach has helped Manchester city centre to achieve one of the lowest vacancy rates in the UK for commercial properties, with occupation of Grade A space up by 33% to 2.5m million sq ft between June 2006 and June 2007 to an overall occupancy rate of 96.3%.

Network with other city centre businesses Cityco’s events give members access to high-level discussions relating to the strategic development of the city. The events offer extensive networking opportunities with other Cityco members, from sectors such as commercial property, professional services, utilities and retail. “Cityco were invaluable during the consultation for our Origin project on Princess Street. They were able to provide me with impartial and in depth advice on the city centre and the development’s environs. Their knowledge of the city centre and willingness to help was a great asset, and has led to my decision to become a member.”
