Gary Ellis was employed by the company in 2003 having worked for Manchester City Council since 1978. During his time with the city council he served an apprenticeship in Agriculture and Horticulture and Enterprise Management, working his way up to the position of Operations Manager in Environmental and Operations. Gary's experience in operational management is extensive, and included a significant involvement in both the rebuild of the city centre after the bomb in 1996 and the dressing of the city for the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
Since joining Cityco, Gary has made a considerable contribution to service delivery in the city centre, acting as the core client focus. He has played a vital role in a number of key projects, including acting as chair of the Annual Party Political Party Conferences Local Impact Group, to ensure the smooth running of the city centre during these major events. He has also developed floral schemes, which achieved a Gold Standard Best Environmental Quality Award, the first time a major city has ever achieved this status, and developed a new city centre festive lighting scheme which was the most extensive city centre scheme of its kind in the country.
