Cityco work closely with hoteliers in Manchester city centre to help enhance what the city has to offer visitors and to troubleshoot issues that hoteliers face. We do this through strategic projects, operational support, improvements to the external environment and promoting the city centre to users and investors. Cityco also provide logistical project management of the many large events and conferences, etc now attracted to the city.
Cityco’s membership scheme offers the following benefits to hoteliers:
Benefits and services
Benefit from better trading conditions in the city Cityco undertake initiatives to create the trading conditions for hotels and other city centre businesses to prosper, such as commissioning a strategic review of the city’s retail provision. The findings of these studies will enable Cityco and partners to bring to market products and services that will increase the number of leisure and business visitors to the city.
Make a direct impact on your bottom line by reducing anti social behaviour The Cityco Business Crime Package supports hoteliers in addressing anti social behaviour, in close liaison with the Police and Manchester City Council, helping to keep the city centre a safe and pleasant environment for hotel users. For more details, please see the Cityco Business Crime Package pages.
Improving Manchester’s offering for retail and leisure visitors One of Cityco’s objectives is to make Manchester a more attractive visitor destination by enhancing what the city has to offer. Cityco led the campaign to encourage retailers to extend their closing times to 8pm, a campaign which has had a positive impact, not only on trading figures, but also on the overall city centre experience by creating a more mixed economy into the early evening.
Encouraging repeat visits through creating a clean, safe and green environment Cityco work with developers and the local authority to improve the city centre and make it more attractive to visitors. Cityco’s knowledge of the city and links with the local authorities mean that we can push through initiatives that we know will make a difference. Recent projects have included creating tree-lined boulevards through a city centre tree-planting programme that not only enhances the appearance of the city but also helps to design out crime.
Attracting talented staff by making the city a better place for business and leisure Cityco help to attract skilled employees to Manchester by making the city a better place in which to work, live and invest. The 2007 UK Cities Monitor report, looking at criteria such as quality of life and ease of recruiting good quality staff, ranked Manchester second only to London as the best overall place in which to locate a business.
“Cityco worked with us in the run up to the opening of the Macdonald Manchester Hotel to ensure that the environment around the hotel was up to the standard that our guests would expect. They pulled out all the stops to get more street cleansing patrols, trees and verges tidied up, and advised us on access and security issues.”
Garin Davies General Manager, Macdonald Manchester Hotel
