Following the success of Manchester Arndale’s Child Safe Scheme, CityCo has rolled out a city-wide initiative to help city centre venues and parents keep children safe, and found quickly if lost.
If a child is lost or found in a Child Safe Zone, members of the public (both parents and finders) can go to 16 Help Points in locations including Market Street, Albert Square and Lever Street that connect to Manchester City Centre’s CCTV control room.
All Help Points are sign-posted by branded street banners.
A help telephone number – 08700 622797 – that also connects to the CCTV control room – is displayed on Child Safe stickers and wrist-bands used by participating venues. Parents and guardians can also write their own mobile number on the bands.
Child Safe wrist-bands are available free to collect at:
- House of Fraser
- Primark
- Waterstones (Deansgate)
- Manchester Visitor Information Centre
- Piccadilly Gardens
- Manchester Arndale
- Manchester Art Gallery
- MOSI
- The Triangle shopping centre
- Manchester Craft & Design Centre
- Afflecks Palace
- The Printworks
CityCo is continuing to liaise with city centre businesses to encourage further participation. To discuss joining the scheme, please email Emma Cooke or call 0161 838 3253.
Partner Feedback
The child safe wrist bands are very popular at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. We have had a lot of good feedback from parents and carers.
