Piccadilly Partnership is working to bring an official busking stage to Piccadilly Gardens as part of continuing efforts to develop the area as a vibrant event space.
Coordinated by the Piccadilly Partnership and CityCo, in collaboration with The Manchester College, the initiative kick-starts plans to develop regulated busking spots across the city and allows street musicians to showcase their talent and gain exposure to a wider city centre audience.
A well-attended trial event last Autumn, which saw a series of performances, showcased Piccadilly Gardens as an area that lends itself perfectly to hosting creative events which encourage a positive atmosphere.
A second busking session took place from on Friday 25 March, again showcasing the talents of performers from The Manchester College.
Further dates are being planned for the summer, with a view to bringing a stage to the Gardens on a more permanent basis.
The initiative is part of a long-term commitment to developing the area and commissioning regulated, high quality busking sites across the city.
