10 year vision for public transport in Manchester unveiled at Cityconversations event

Cityconversations event - 18 February

Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive, Manchester City Council and David Leather, Chief Executive, GMPTE, presented the context and key elements of the plan to provide Manchester city centre with a world class transport system.

The proposed strategy complements the joint Cityco and City Council Strategic Plan for Manchester city centre 2009 - 2012, which recognises the importance of transport in supporting economic growth by meeting the travel needs of Manchester's residents, workers and visitors in a sustainable way.

The strategy covers the period to 2020 and addresses all modes of transport, including improvements for pedestrians and cyclists.
