2012 Canal Festival comes to Manchester
CityCo and Piccadilly Partnership curate Manchester events for this year’s 2012 Canal Festival
Come and celebrate the best of canal culture this summer – and put Piccadilly Basin on the map – with a festival that features a float-in movie, the world’s first ever permanent outdoor Lomography exhibition, a floating garden and much more.
The festival in question is The Canal Festival (18-26 August), and the stretch of water it celebrates is the 200 year-old Rochdale Canal, which ends its 32-mile journey at Piccadilly Basin.
Although this canal fest has been running for six years, this is its first ever foray into Manchester city centre – so join Cityco, Piccadilly Partnership and The Canal & Rivers Trust as we celebrate the free Manchester events that, as you might expect, put a distinctly urban twist on traditional canal festival celebrations.
